The Angel Guild

Guilds
Before the material world was created, there were Angels, keepers of the
balance of the Cosmos, and agents of its creation and maintenance.
It was by Angelic Will that dust and energy collapsed into worlds, and
that the sun and planets followed their orbits.  Angels sang the days
and hours and seconds into being, they taught the mole to dig and the
eagle to fly, they wove the loom of gravity between galaxies.

All this they did in accordance with their nature, and gave no thought
to matters of reward, or recompense, or even recognition for their
labors.  But eventually, with the creation of the corporeal world,
and of mankind, a new concept was unleashed upon the Cosmos: morality.

The now self-aware Angels debated their new ideas vigorously.  Some
came to the conclusion that creation was fundamentally unified, that
duty was its own reward, and that Good the proper moral code.  These
took the name of the Divine.  Others deemed creation to be duality
at its heart, sought reward for their execution of duty, and found
power in Evil ways.  These were called the Fallen.

Since then, these two factions have struggled in an endless war,
with perhaps the fate of the Cosmos as the ultimate prize.  And now
both Divine and Fallen Angels walk amongst us.  They act in the
material world, directly or through commandeered bodies.  They seek
to guide humanity's moral compass.  They work their immortal Will
upon the world, and will lead us to glory.
